St. Patrick's Band join with over 100 other Galway musicians to provide the music for the Paper Boat Opera

In early 2022, the band were requested to take part in the Galway community-inspired Opera "Paper Boat". St. Patrick's Band were only too delighted to agree and took part in two performances of the opera in St. Nicholas' Collegiate Church in April 2022, along with over 100 other Galway musicians.

Paper Boat, written by Jessica Traynor and music by Elaine Agnew, presented a dramatic celebration of 700 years of St. Nicholas' Collegiate Church, weaving together history, mythology and current events to "tell a story of human endurance", inspired by the diverse communities who engage with the cultural and spiritual hub that is St. Nicholas'.

St. Patrick's Band represented the conquering forces of Cromwell with a distinct dissonant and jaunting brass sound.
